The Sony VAIO VCG-RT150Y takes a swipe at Apple with this all in one wonder, but does it make the grade? We'll see.

Sony VAIO VCG-RT150Y
The Sony VAIO VCG-RT150Y All In One Multimedia PC

Sony is trying hard to be the center of all of your multimedia entertainment, and to do that they know that they have to convince you that Apple is not the only All in one manufacturer out there. In classic solid black, this 25.5 wide screen multimedia PC is Powered by an Intel Core 2 Quad processor, 8GBof memory, and 1TB of data storage for all of your projects. The nVidia GeForce 9600M GT GPU brings all of your favorite digital 3d images to life, and the addition of a Blu-Ray player makes creation of a theater like environment as smile as inserting a disk.

While the price is a little high, sitting at just under $4000, this multimedia masterpiece is competing head to head with the digital editing and viewing expertise of the leading Apple line of All in One HTPCs and digital editing boxes, and does a good job of it, except for the price factor. The Sony VAIO VCG-RT150Y is truly a professional grade system, but places a premium price on its flagship, and though performs well, in benchmarking tests, proved to be a little behind competitors of the same price caliber but ahead of decisively cheaper models.

The 150Y does better than its predecessors in keeping the unwanted software shipped with it to a minimum, but I beg to differ with the philosophy that if I am spending $4000 on a multimedia all in one I would still want an AOL dial up account, and feel that the Office and OneCare trials should be extended or withdrawn all together. If you want to talk apples and oranges, the VAIO VCG-RT15oY is a good orange, but for the price, I would get an Apple.
