What do you need that box for anyway, the All in one HP TouchSmart IQ816 HTPC
All in one computers, especially in the HTPC and Multimedia PCs arena have been slow to fruition, ( I think mainly due to their struggling little brother, the all in one tablet.), but I think that the new HP TouchSmart IQ816 might change that by setting a new standard in convenience and utility for the market. At 1920x1200 resolution and just over $2000, this fully functioning Intel Core 2 Duo powered LCD masterpiece adorn the walls of board rooms and living rooms alike worldwide. Now that I am done singing its praises, there were a few things that I feel were overlooked (or should I say forsaken) if the want people to truly be happy with their HTPC centerpiece. I regret to inform that it ships out with only 750 GB of hard drive storage....

This Media Center is Branded Apple but is 100% Nvidia, and that's a good thing
Out of the 4 models that the iMac series comprises, I always look forward to see what changes the creaters at Apple are going to throw into their top of the line 24 inchers. Long being the choice of illustrators and other graphics junkies, the Apple brand has always attracted somewhat of a demanding graphics crowd, and this time I think the mob will be well satisfied. In fact, I would go out on a limb and say that if you do not know how to make your graphics cards work for their dinner, then you might as well get one of the less expensive iMacs, as they are all great looking Media Center PCs, and If your not looking to be the next Pixar studios, then the extra $1000 might buy you one heck of a DVD collection....

The Gateway LX6200-01 HTPC on a budget
This sub $1000 HTPC comes in a sleek and unobtrusive version of the Gateway FX6800-01e case housing (minus some of the flashier points). This proved to be a great option for this budget machine, as the 750 GB hard drive that comes standard with this machine might not be enough for the media geek who saves every video they edit or come across to their storage system. The AMD Phenom Quad Core CPU is multimedia friendly, but is not a gaming screamer. Performance for this CPU is adequate, though not spectacular, and might perform sub-par if not sticking to media editing and venture off into gaming. More memory might be the first though, but with 8GB already under the hood, and nor room for DIMM addition, this thought is fleeting at best....

The video Pro is exactly as its name implies, a professional standard hobbyists machine with the video enthusiasts in mind. Packed with 8 GB of memory, most consumers might feel this is overkill, until they turn their high in Intel core 2 Quad processor on their first video editing project, and it seems quite normal after that. Housed in the Gigabyte Poseidon 310 case, If the dual 500 GB SATA drives and ATI Radeon HD 4850 GPU, Blu-Ray and DVD burners prove to be inadequate (fat chance), then there is plenty of room for further expansion down the road....

The ultra small size ThinkCentre a61e is an extremely small, green, yet very capable business computing solution. Though not the most expandable of computing platforms, it is very capable business in clerical desktop. The iMac comes with 3.06-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processors (a Core 2 Duo E7600 in this case) can even be upgraded to 3.33 GHz. The 27-inch system also comes with 4GB of DDR3 memory with an option for up to 16GB, a 1TB hard drive, and ATI Radeon HD 4670 graphics -upgradeable to a Radeon HD 4850 chip and a optional Apple remote. Sadly though the iMac only sports one extra SD card slot.
The 27 inch screen is LED backlit and looks clear and can be viewed from a wide angel with perfect clarity. The wireless keyboard and mouse combo along with the black bezel ring and aluminum gives the iMac a classy look that sets it apart from others.

The 1,920 by 1,080 (true 1080p screen resolution) comes with the system but does lack a blu ray player and is somewhat restrictive for downloads and web videos which is kind of a downer. They really push you to buy movies though the iTunes store with this machine....
