The Intel DP55WG Motherboard is a Lynnfield LGA-1156 CPU host with dual channel DDR3- 1066MHz max access making it a great candidate for media projects everywhere. Aimed at the home HTPC market, Intel has hit the target's bulls eye with the Intel DP55WG Motherboard.

Intel DP55WG Motherboard Review

Intel Has found that in these times, the combination of a high powered CPU for an acceptable price paired with a very capable budget Motherboard make for great sales reports and a fan based of satisfied general computing consumers. Adding the muscle of Quad core Intel Processors to the P55 motherboard platform has made the reasonable priced combination future proofing benefits as well. Now With CrossfireX support even the graphic capabilities have a high ceiling in this small form factor mobo.

The Intel DP55WG is an HTPC on steroids. Realtek ALC889 provides for an end to end audio solution when used in parallel with the included Firewire and SATA3. A fast system by default, it has little room for overclocking, but at $140 the Intel Quad Core Ready, integrated graphics, audio, and dual memory channel handling make this board a steal to begin with. The CPU, PCI, and PCH can all be set to custom ratings with the included TurboBoost utility for automated overclocking, but the performance increase when maxed out was negligible. That is easily forgiven thanks to an already capable motherboard and CPU feature combination.

If you need a motherboard that performs exactly as advertised, for a reasonable price, and multipliers and clock speed are not obsessions of yours, then the Intel DP55WG will give you lots of blue Ray viewing, or even a base for your audio studio career. Even without the overclocking, this motherboard held it own against the Intel DP55KG Extreme turbo. Your money will be well spent.

If you are a Windows7 user, the drivers that come on the CD may not be appropriate and a visit to Intel's website might be in order, but no reports of incompatibility have been reported, so I would say it is a go.
