The Core i7 860 LGA 1156 is truly a new standards Intel Computer Processor, and I think that the standard is here to stay.

Intel CPU Core i7 860 LGA 1156

I really think that sometimes we see an innovation in technology that changes the whole way we do business. These times are rare. The Core i7 860 LGA 1156 has several. Often we think that if we just buy the box with the biggest numbers on it it will be the best, but that can be deceiving.

Intel has totally eliminated the need for a Northbridge chip with this computer processor architecture. With an integrated, on die PCIe interface, and QPI (Quick Path Interconnect), thus removing not only one of the data transfer bottlenecks (via the FSB) but also one of heat transfer. This allows for Motherboards to be created cheaper and less prone to overheating. At the current time i7 CPUs had to opt for the X

Not only that, but the use of an onboard memory controller running dual channel memory (differing from previous LGA models which had 3 channels) allows for use of less expensive motherboards. There was more than a C-note in it for new PC builders who wanted to take advantage of that by opting for a P55 Mobo platform instead of the X58 required by other i7s.

I have always said that the drawback to the Intel CPU i7 was the need for the more expensive X58 due to the triple memory handling on die, but with the Intel CPU i7 860 LGA 1156 you can get the use of Hyperthreading offered by the i7 and the overall cost savings offered by the dual channel i5, along with minimized heat risk and data transfer bottlenecks to increase speed. That makes it worth the extra money, and a better product for it.
