Gigabyte P55A-UD6 LGA1156 Motherboard Review - So many features we can't say enough

Use of the P55 chipset might often be talked about as yesterday's platform, with the X58 and Core i7 pairing becoming the "next thing", but with all of the added features that the Gigabyte P55-UD6A packs, the LGA1156 platform has some pretty vibrant left left in it after all. There's really nothing that the Gigabyte P55-UD6 lacks in its default configuration. The only limitation that came with the P55-UD6 was that to take advantage of CrossfireX for the ATI fans or nVideo SLI, you will have to accept the fact that with the integrated CPU PCI Express graphics paths being used by the GPU configuration that the remaining PCIe channels will be divided, forced by a splitting of your bandwith for other purposes, as it will become rerouted and handled by the P55 chip set, which handles at a lessened rate of transfer than the CPU could theoretically support. The overclocking capability of this P55 were not spectacular, and the absence of onboard bluetooth support left many of the wonderful BIOS and preferences software provided in the bundle crippled. It can't be called a crime however, as there are so many features on this board that it is forgivable to not be able to keep up.

The additional upgrade to SATA3 and USB3 on an LGA1156 make this an excellent upgrade board, and the 6 DDR3 slots make it a lifesaver for those with extra DIMMs going to no good use. Dual memory channels and 16GB of availability make running out of options for upgrading and recycling much less limited. If you have been struggling with an X58 upgrade because you still have a perfectly good LGA 1156 CPU then there should be nothing to hold you back.
