Our Intel core2 and Intel Core 2 duo reviews are the simplest way to get a grip on the features of this new line of processors. The Intel core2 has replaced the Pentium line as the mid range CPU of choice for the Intel based machine. carrying the torch for Hyper-threaded technology and now with Power boost to help utilize CPU cycles and power, this CPU line has lots of goodies to pour over.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 - A great dual core Intel Cpu - but cache is king

AMD's Athlon 64's dominated the high-end market for quite some time but with the advent of Intel's core two duo CPUs their reign has come to a fast and now to make up for that fact AMD has chosen to slash prices. This made us very interested in the more affordable Intel Core 2 Duos as they were to be the topic of AMD competition with the Athlon so soundly beaten at the top of the line. While there's not much difference between Intel's high-end chips in the Intel Core 2 Duo E6400, in fact they're manufactured on the same line, running a slightly lower clock rate and disabling half of the L2 cache makes these Intel Core 2 CPUs more affordable to build and still leaves them with plenty of room for competitive performance....

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 review -shifting the balance of power for under $400

While Intel is very open about its limiting L2 cache in order to achieve cost savings, and still using clock speed as a differentiation between Intel CPUs in the same family, I was very pleased to see that with the Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 that all 4 MB of L2 cache were left enabled, and considering the advent of dual core technology, a clock speed of 2.4 GHz is nothing to roll your eyes at. Though this Intel CPU is not the highest priced processor available, the architectural features implemented in this chip mimic those of their top-of-the-line models. It is a 64-bit processor, has enhanced speed step technology, Intel virtualization technology, and fits right in with your favorite LGA 775 socket motherboard....

No longer feeling the need to confuse everyone, if there ever was one, Intel, with their new Intel core2 series, have eliminated the multi faceting naming structure of the previous Pentium series. No longer is there a need to learn the D, M, or P4 variations of the CPU needed for desktop or mobile use. Under one brand, and utilizing the same powerful architecture, the Intell CPU core 2 duo (and also the Solo, with a single core) is ready to handle all of your high speed number crunching and intensive graphics payloads. While not comprising of an L3 Cache like the P4 extreme Gallatin core, it does a lot better at controlling clock rate usage and power than previous NetBurst processors. Our Intel cor 2 reviews take a look at each individual Intel core2, making a once complex decision, now simple.
