ASUS P7P55D-E Premium Motherboard Review - USB 3.0 and lots of other high speed and bandwidth gobbling goodies

The ASUS P7P55D-E is a small step that makes huge waves in the P7P55D family. The simple addition of a USB standard upgrade take a previous 480Mbit/s transfer to a massive 4.8Gbits. While the other standard P7P55D Premium Motherboard feature remain unchanged, this one upgrade makes a hge difference in transfer speeds.

An LGA-1156 socket motherboard, it can hold your favorite Intel Core i7 or Core i5 CPUs, and the ability to hold up to 16 Gb of overclocked DDR3 memory makes it a data munching competitor to contend with. With the PCI lanes removed from Northbridge control and placed directly on the CPU, the QPI, which runs at an amazing 4.8GT/sec can do it job without breaking a sweat.

With 4 LAN ports to choose from, adding this enthusiasts dream to your local network, or making it the hub for it, is a piece of cake. There are no internal graphics included, but the addition of a Lynnfield CPU will give you what you need, and then there's always the additional PCI Express x16 x2 to set up a set of your favorite 3D pixel busters.

For the hobbyist, the ASUS P7P55D-E has one of the easiest to use overclocking software features on the market. We were able to overclock our DDR3 by a complete GHz with a few click of the mouse without ever having to enter the bios.

If you are looking for it, the ASUS P755D-E Premium has it, now with USB 3.0 standard. While if you own the previous USB 2.0 standard P7P55D, the USB upgrade may not thrill you as much as it did us for the price, but if you are looking for a new platform for your Intel Core i7 Quad, then this easy to overclock Premium is jut what the doctor ordered.
